I'm selling my mom's 1998 Ford Contour with approx. 115,000 miles. (it
will finally be available this weekend).Asking $1250.00 O.B.O. as is.

A few notes: replaced transmission, new battery, new rear brakes,
inspected through July, 2009. Power windows, power locks, ABS brakes,
cruise control, AC, stereo radio and tape deck. Good trend on tires.

Good condition. My mother drove this car around Newport. Not much highway
mileage on it. Two owners, my sister and then my mother. She kept it in
very good condition (inside and out).

If you are interested, please send me an email as soon as possible. I'm
willing to bring the car to URI this Saturday to show it and for test
drives. If that doesn't work for you, I can bring it on Monday and Tuesday
of next week or by appointment. This is a great deal so don't pass it
up!!!! Just in time before school starts...

Hi to everyone,

I would just like to let all of you know that I will be retiring from 
the department and my position as Department Secretary / Fiscal Clerk on 
8/29/08 which will be my last day of work.

It has been, what seems to be now, a short 21 years and I have seen the 
department grow from 1 to 3 departments and the largest department in 
all of the COE.  I have enjoyed working with all of you here as you have 
been very supportive of me over the years.   I have also had the 
opportunity to meet and help many graduate as well as undergraduate 
students during this time, but now I feel it is time to go  on to yet 
another chapter in my life which will be retirement.  Again, many thanks

Hi everyone,

Once again it is necessary to address the copy machine and the reason 
why it shouldn't be physically shut down at night.  I did talk to the 
technician Mark about this & he said that the machine will automatically 
go into sleep mode when it hasn't been used in a while.  He also stated 
that the machine should "NEVER" be shut down completely as this will 
cause problems with it especially in the summer time with the excessive 
heat.  It automatically controls itself to do what is the right. Also, 
Tim has this machine on a timer so after hours it will also go into 
sleep mode for the night, but still maintain a running mode when it 
needs to be used.  So, "AGAIN" please do not shut the machine down 
manually.  It is totally NOT NECESSARY!!!!!  Thank you.

Description 
Join this team to analyze and optimize Oracle Fusion Middleware products on Intel multicore platforms. While impacting the success of Intel server business through your technical contributions, you'll also have the best opportunity to learn about the overall software architecture and performance of the multi-tiered Oracle Middleware software stacks. In this position, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: 
- Responsible to work site in Oracle* headquarters in Redwood Shores, California 
- Working closely with engineers from both Intel and Oracle - performance engineers from Intel and developers and performance engineers from Oracle 
- Analyzing, characterizing and optimizing Oracle* Fusion Middleware on Xeon servers 
- Identifying opportunities to impact Oracle's software products with Intel's roadmap products, tools and technologies 
- Impacting Intel's roadmap products and technologies via utilizing knowledge of Oracle* software architecture and characteristics 
Qualifications 
You should possess a Bachelor or a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering with more than three years of experience in the industry or a Ph.D. in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering. Additional qualifications include: 
- Basic knowledge of C++ 
- Good understanding of Java managed runtime environment 
- Familiarity with Linux* and Windows* OS* 
The following qualifications would be added advantages:

Hi everyone,

Once again I am missing a brand new laser pointer from my office. 
Please search your office to see if you might have it or if you know you 
have it please return it to me.  And hurry, Friday is my last day!!!!!!!!

Also, you will now have to see Meredith in order to obtain a laser 
pointer.  There will be a sign up sheet for it when you take it out so 
this will not happen in the future.  I have already lost 3 of these to 
people who take it out and never return it or forget to.

The department will be hosting a reception for all our graduate students
on Friday, September 5 from 12-1:00 p.m. in the Kelley Conference Room
(K-205). Pizza, refreshments and cake will be served. We hope you all can
attend. I will be presenting the new students with a revised Graduate
Handbook and some other informative materials. The existing graduate
students will receive the revised pages of the manual.

This will be a great time to reacquaint with each other and to get to know
our newest faculty members and students.
